屏東縣8個山地鄉及部分沿海村里週二停班停課

Heavy rain is shutting down work and school across mountain and coastal parts of Pingtung County in southern Taiwan on Tuesday, a safety call that disrupts daily life but is meant to prevent deaths.

  • Eight mountain townships in Pingtung — including Wutai, Sandimen, Majia, Laiyi, Taiwu, Chunri, Shizi and Mudan — will close offices and schools Tuesday.
  • Several coastal villages in Donggang, Fangliao and Jiadong are also shut after days of flooding.
  • Forecasters expect extremely heavy rain to keep falling over the mountains through Tuesday.
  • Days of downpours have loosened hillside soil, raising the risk of landslides and mudflows.
  • Everywhere else in the county stays open as normal.

Outlook: Closures could be extended if the rain keeps up, with landslides the main danger once the ground is this saturated.
