Materials Analysis Technology raises NT$3bn for AI chip and CPO testing, wins European patent
Taiwan's chip-testing firm Materials Analysis Technology (MA-tek) is raising fresh cash to expand into AI chip and optical-chip analysis, a positive sign for demand in advanced semiconductor packaging.
- The company is selling 6,000 lots of new shares at NT$500 each to raise about NT$3 billion.
- The money goes into expanding its AI chip analysis platform and buying silicon photonics optical-link testing equipment.
- Demand is rising because AI and advanced packaging make chips harder to test, so customers outsource more failure and materials analysis.
- Its in-house "optical loss detection device" just won a European patent, adding protection in Germany, France, the Netherlands and other European markets on top of Taiwan, the US, Japan and Korea.
- Europe is home to major chip equipment and photonics makers, so the patent opens the door to joint development and licensing deals with big international toolmakers.
Outlook: With funding in place, the company should ramp up new testing equipment and research aimed at the silicon photonics and CPO boom over the next year.
