WT Microelectronics prices record $935 million fundraising
Taiwan's WT Microelectronics has locked in the biggest fundraising deal in its history, a sign that chip demand is running hot enough for investors to hand over serious money.
- The electronics distributor priced about $935 million (roughly NT$29.6 billion) across two overseas deals.
- One part is a share offering listed in Luxembourg; the other is a convertible bond listed in Singapore.
- The cash will buy parts in foreign currency and pay down foreign-currency bank loans.
- The bond pays no interest at all and runs just nine months, with a conversion price set well above the share price — investors are betting the stock climbs.
Outlook: Management points to strong AI demand plus a recovery in industrial and car chips, so expect the company to lean on this cash to stock up on inventory.
