Maui Music and Food Experience brings Taimane, John Cruz and Los Lobos to the Valley Isle
Maui's music and food scene gets a lift this weekend, with a lineup of top Hawaiian acts and island chefs — good news for local restaurants and venues still rebuilding after the Lahaina fire.
- Taimane, John Cruz and 3 Lbs of Kalo take the stage today, with Los Lobos, Alejandro Escovedo, What Mongoose? and Kanekoa tomorrow night.
- Chefs including Zach Laidlaw of Hua Momona Farms and the team from Coco Deck Kitchen + Bar Lahaina are cooking, and a VIP package is on sale.
- On Oahu, the Kani Ka Pila Grille talent search runs tomorrow afternoon at the Hawaii Convention Center as part of the 32nd Made in Hawaii Festival.
- Past talent search winners have gone on to sweep Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, including last year's winner 'Olauniu with three wins.
- Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" is now the highest-grossing R-rated film ever, passing "Deadpool and Wolverine" with $1.35 billion worldwide since July.
