Honolulu's Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival returns Sept. 19
Honolulu's Chinatown will host its yearly Mid-Autumn Festival next month, a boost for local shops and vendors in the neighborhood.
- The all-day event runs Saturday, September 19, from morning until 10 p.m. at the Chinatown Cultural Plaza.
- More than 30 local vendors will be there, along with traditional food, cultural performances, live bunnies, and a lantern parade.
- A lantern-making activity costs $5, and people are encouraged to carry what they make in the parade.
- After dark, telescopes will be set up so visitors can look at the full moon.
- The Hawaii National Bank Foundation is paying for the festival, which is meant to support Chinatown's culture and local businesses.
Outlook: Expect a busy day for Chinatown merchants, with the biggest crowds after sunset for the lantern parade and moon viewing.
