顧立雄:川習會後 美對台政策並沒有改變
Taiwan says US policy toward the island is unchanged after the Trump–Xi summit, a reassuring signal for Taipei and for arms deals already in the pipeline.
- Defense minister Koo Li-hsiung confirmed Washington has repeatedly told Taipei nothing about US Taiwan policy has shifted since the meeting.
- No arms sale in progress has been altered, paused, or cancelled, and talks on each deal continue as before.
- The worry was that Xi's high-profile state visit to Washington, and the warm treatment Trump gave him, might come at Taiwan's expense.
- F-16V jets are now built and ready to hand over, with Taiwan's air force working through the final preparations before they fly home.
- Some of those jets will miss the end-of-year delivery deadline, and the US has signalled goodwill on compensation rather than penalties.
Outlook: Taipei expects a concrete compensation deal for the late jets and a delivery date for the first F-16Vs in the coming weeks.
