Taiwanese industrial computer maker IEI Integration is pushing deeper into robotics, and its latest earnings show the business is booming.

• IEI's edge computing platform now links AI vision software directly to robot arms, so the system can slow or stop a machine when it spots a worker in danger.
• The company added factory-floor safety detection — spotting missing helmets or vests — and wired it into Mitsubishi robot equipment.
• It is also building controllers for humanoid robots, already shipping in China, with a European project next alongside AMD.
• Profit more than tripled from a year earlier in the second quarter, and July sales hit a record high.
• Parts shortages pushed component costs up and squeezed margins early in the year, but strong demand for its high-end video conferencing gear made up for it.

Outlook: If parts supply stays steady, the company expects full-year profit margins to hold above 30%.
