Taiwan's Hsinchu County is moving to build its first public sports complex in Xinfeng Township, a positive step for a fast-growing area that has long lacked one.

  • Xinfeng, home to more than 80,000 people counting residents and workers, currently has no public sports venue.
  • The township plans to secure land in the Guangxing rezoning area by year-end and has entered early planning.
  • The site, about 1.3 hectares obtained through a land swap with the Ministry of National Defense, will host the new complex.
  • Growth is being driven by nearby industrial parks, Minghsin University of Science and Technology, and heavy new housing construction.
  • The facility is planned around "many uses, all ages, shared by everyone," with spaces for seniors and parent-child activities.

Outlook: Hsinchu County is building similar venues across its townships, with the Hukou center due in late 2027 and Beipu set to break ground later this year.
