A fun pop-culture update, not breaking news: this year's Toy Hall of Fame class was announced.

• Care Bears, the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Bingo, and the playground slide were inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame in Rochester, New York.
• The honor recognizes toys that spark creativity and have entertained generations of kids.
• Finalists that didn't make the cut this year included Bop It, Mahjong, Mouse Trap, Polly Pocket, and Tickle Me Elmo.
• In unrelated seasonal tradition news, a village in England kept up its centuries-old custom of rolling flaming barrels through the streets, with safety crews on hand to keep the fire under control.

Outlook: Expect next year's Toy Hall of Fame finalists list to drop before the next induction ceremony.
