Hawaii's election count is running ahead of schedule, which is good news for anyone waiting on results.

• The second batch of results came out around 9:15pm, well before the original 10:30pm target, after processing roughly 308,000 ballots.
• Officials say voting day itself went smoothly, with short lines at voting centers compared to past elections.
• More ballots are still arriving from drop boxes and mail, and each one needs signature verification before it can be counted, which takes time.
• Election officials don't have a firm estimate for the next update, but expect it sometime between 3am and 6am.

Outlook: The next results printout is expected in the early morning hours, with final counts depending on how fast signature verification goes.
