Chef Tyler Florence Brings Us a Taste of Miller & Lux Hualālai
A potential tropical cyclone and stronger trade winds are set to bring rougher surf and more showers to parts of Hawaii this weekend, while on the Big Island, celebrity chef Tyler Florence is in town showcasing his steakhouse Miller & Lux at the Four Seasons Hualālai.
- A system passing south of the islands could strengthen trade winds and bring more rain to windward Big Island Friday and Saturday, with surf building on north and south shores and staying rough and choppy on east shores through the weekend.
- Chef Tyler Florence, known from several Food Network shows, is marking four years of his restaurant Miller & Lux at the Four Seasons Hualālai, which he says is thriving and was recently named best restaurant on the Big Island by Honolulu Magazine.
- The restaurant's signature dish is a large dry-aged steak from pasture-raised cattle, a product Florence says cannot be found anywhere else outside his San Francisco and Hawaii locations.
- Florence is also in Hawaii for the local food and wine festival, giving an industry keynote and hosting a large public tasting event, and says the local food scene has grown significantly in recent years.
Outlook: Expect breezier, showery weather through the weekend from the offshore system, while Hawaii's food and wine festival events continue with more high-profile chef appearances.
