A Hawaii crime story out of Oahu: a woman says she had a terrifying close encounter with the man now charged in a violent daytime kidnapping, just an hour after the attack happened nearby.

• A 30-year-old former Hawaii resident says a naked man approached her within two feet while she napped alone at a Diamond Head beach, and she had to scream at him to back off.
• She says he showed no expression but had an unsettling, intense stare before mumbling something about swimming and walking into the ocean.
• Police allege the man is a 23-year-old now charged with kidnapping and harassment after surveillance video showed him stalking, chasing, and dragging a 24-year-old stranger toward his truck about an hour earlier and a mile and a half away.
• The woman says she had no idea at the time who he was, and even drove past officers arresting him later that day without realizing the connection until she saw the news.
• She's urging other women to stay alert on beaches and aware of their surroundings.

Outlook: The suspect faces kidnapping and harassment charges, with the case likely to move through the courts as more surveillance footage and witness accounts come out.
