Kula Hospital to Be Restored and Reopened After Storm Damage
Kula Hospital on Maui is getting rebuilt after being shut down by storm damage earlier this year, which is good news for the rural community that lost access to its emergency room and care facility.
The hospital, along with its emergency room and a nearby care facility, has been closed since March storms hit the area.
A construction company has now been picked to handle the repairs, with plans to update resident rooms, activity rooms, and nurse stations inside the building.
New windows and doors are also planned, built to hold up against harsh weather while still following rules for preserving the historic building.
Outlook: Construction is expected to move forward soon, though no reopening date has been set yet.
