China sent a sizable mix of military and government ships toward Taiwan over a one-day stretch, and Taiwan's military says it's watching closely but has the situation under control.

• Taiwan detected 7 Chinese military ships, 6 government ships, and 19 military aircraft over the latest 24-hour period.
• Of those aircraft, 4 crossed into airspace near Taiwan's southwest and east, which Taiwan treats as provocative.
• Taiwan's defense ministry says its own ships, aircraft, and coastal missile systems are monitoring and ready to respond.

Outlook: This kind of daily military and government ship activity near Taiwan has become routine, with no sign of letting up.
