A stranger tried to drag a woman into a car in broad daylight at a Diamond Head apartment complex, and only quick-acting neighbors stopped him.

• Police say a 23-year-old man followed two women, a 24-year-old and a 77-year-old, into an apartment building's underground garage and grabbed the younger woman.
• Security cameras caught the attack as the victim screamed for help and begged him to stop.
• Neighbors rushed in, physically blocked the attacker and pulled the woman free before he could get her into a vehicle.
• The suspect fled but was tracked down and arrested in the Diamond Head area a few hours later; kidnapping and assault charges are pending.
• Both women are physically unharmed but say they're still shaken, and the victim is urging others to stay alert and fight back loudly if targeted.

Outlook: The suspect remains in custody awaiting charges, and police are expected to release more details as the case moves forward.
