Eleven hula dancers in Hawaii are still in the running for spots in Cirque du Soleil's upcoming 'Auana show, which is good news for the local performing arts community.

• Show organizers narrowed the field down from 50 dancers after a casting call at the Outrigger Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel.
• Leaders haven't finalized how many dancers they'll actually hire.
• They do plan to extend contracts to some of the dancers who made the cut.

Outlook: A final decision on cast size and contracts is expected soon as organizers finish their selection process.
