A local nonprofit is holding a run/walk fundraiser to support Kailua High School, open to everyone regardless of school affiliation.

• Friends of Kailua High School, a nonprofit of students, parents, alumni and staff, is hosting a 5K, 10K and one-mile walk starting at the school, winding through Enchanted Lake and Kailua Elementary.
• Entry costs $10 without a shirt or $15 with one, with shirts made and printed by the school itself.
• Proceeds fund scholarships, campus improvements and other needs the school can't otherwise cover.
• Kids from any school are encouraged to join, and the event can count toward school community-service running requirements.
• Sign-ups are through active.com or the Friends of Kailua website, with digital timing chips tracking results.

Outlook: The race is open for registration now, with proceeds going toward scholarships and school improvements once the event takes place.
