A light moment on Hawaii's Island Life segment, where viewers celebrating birthdays today got a round of on-air greetings — pure good news for anyone marking the day.

• Today's birthdays were honored with repeated on-air greetings and a cheerful "first day of the best year of your life" send-off.
• Viewers can submit their own birthday through the birthdays link on kitv.com by filling in their details.
• Those who sign up get a personal birthday song from Lena Girl as part of the segment.
• The tone was family-oriented and closed with aloha, keeping it a feel-good break from harder headlines.

Outlook: The birthday shout-outs run daily, so tomorrow brings a fresh batch of names.
