Aloha Tower turns 100 with a centennial celebration

Oct 13, 2026

Honolulu's Aloha Tower hits its 100th birthday this week with a free two-day public party — good news for anyone who wants a new view of the harbor.

  • The renovated 10th-floor observation deck reopens to the public on Thursday, October 15, with historical exhibits.
  • Friday, October 16 brings local food, live music, and a drone light show over Honolulu Harbor.
  • The Hawaii Department of Transportation is hosting, and admission is free.
  • Other island events are stacking up around it: the Made in Maui County Festival returns in early November with over 140 vendors, and a Filipino culture concert in Hilo on October 24 raises money for student scholarships.
  • The Hawaiian Humane Society is short on towels and blankets for more than 12,000 animals and is asking for donations — large towels, blankets, and flat sheets only, no fitted sheets.

Outlook: Expect crowds at the harbor Thursday and Friday, and a busy run of island festivals through November.
