Hundreds walk at Kapiolani Park for breast cancer awareness
Hundreds of people turned out in Honolulu to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a positive show of community support for patients and their families.
- Susan G. Komen Hawaii held its MORE THAN PINK Walk at the Kapiolani Park Bandstand, starting at 9 a.m.
- Money raised goes toward breast cancer research and direct help for patients.
- The walk has already brought in just under $180,000, against a $200,000 goal.
- Patients, families, friends, and coworkers walked together, with organizers framing the aim as making sure no one dies from breast cancer.
Outlook: Donations stay open online through Komen's Hawaii walk page as the group pushes to close the gap to its goal.
