Most Kauai DMV services are still down after the September 9th fire at the Kapule building, which is bad news for drivers needing road tests or titles.

• Road tests are not available on Kauai at all, and people who need one have to fly to another island.
• Title transfers can be mailed in or dropped off, but nothing gets processed until computer systems are back up.
• The county has put out answers to common questions at kauairecovers.org.
• Most other DMV services remain unavailable while the building and systems are repaired.

Outlook: Services should come back gradually as systems are restored, but there is no firm date yet.
