Fatal car fall from Downtown Honolulu parking structure
One person died after a car went off a downtown Honolulu parking garage and hit the ground at street level, in a crash that shut down a busy corner during the afternoon.
- A car came off an upper level of a parking structure near Bishop and Hotel Street in the mid-afternoon and crashed to the sidewalk.
- One person was confirmed dead and the body was removed from the scene; no identity has been released.
- The fall shattered glass outside a convenience store, which has been boarded over for safety.
- Police held the corner for hours while the car was towed, and a nearby bus stop had to be moved.
Outlook: Police are still investigating and have not said how or why the car left the garage.
