Updates coming to HMSA's plan offerings for 2027
Some HMSA Medicare members in Hawaii will pay more next year, and two plans are going away entirely — bad news for seniors on fixed incomes.
- HMSA's Complete Plus and Standard Plus PPO plans end December 31 and will be replaced by new versions.
- People in those two plans have to actively sign up again during open enrollment or lose their coverage.
- Premiums are going up on some plans, which hits older residents living on fixed incomes hardest.
- A new cheaper HMO plan called Select Plus is being added as a lower-cost option.
- Everyone else is renewed automatically and does not need to do anything.
Outlook: Open enrollment starts next Thursday, and affected members can enroll online, by phone, by mail, or in person at an HMSA center.
