Hawaii Honor Flight honors its only Korean War veteran
Hawaii's 2026 inaugural Honor Flight brought 25 Korean and Vietnam War veterans to Washington's war memorials, with a special tribute for the group's lone Korean War veteran.
- Navy veteran Charles Stanley Brewer was honored at the Korean War Memorial by state and national leaders.
- Brewer called the moment humbling and pointed to the strong U.S.–South Korea alliance built during and after the war.
- He was also welcomed into the Korean Defense Veterans Association and given gifts of appreciation.
- The group then walked to the Vietnam wall, where 37,000 American names are etched.
Outlook: Honor Flight will keep bringing aging veterans to the memorials, though fewer Korean War survivors remain to make the trip.
