Taiwan's São Paulo office marks National Day with Brazilian officials and business leaders
Taiwan used its National Day reception in São Paulo to push closer trade and tech ties with Brazil — a small but positive step for both sides.
- Nearly 200 Brazilian politicians, business figures, local mayors, diplomats and overseas Taiwanese attended the October 7 reception.
- Taiwan's representative pitched the two economies as a natural fit: Taiwanese chips and AI, Brazilian farming and a huge Latin American market.
- The office has set up a Taiwan-Brazil chamber of commerce to deepen trade, tech and supply-chain links.
- Taiwanese tech firms including Acer, ADATA, Askey and Wistron's Brazil arm showed products on site.
- São Paulo state lawmaker Damaris Kuo, married into a Taiwanese family for 25 years, delivered congratulations on behalf of the state assembly and thanked Taiwan for pandemic aid.
Outlook: Expect more Taiwan-Brazil business delegations and smart-city and tech exchanges, though Brazil's formal ties stay with Beijing.
