Loved ones remember aspiring teacher killed in New Mexico crash
A Wahiawa family of three died in a fiery New Mexico crash, and their community on Oahu is grieving three people remembered as the heart of their neighborhood.
- Lily Viveros, 22, died Sunday along with her parents, Wayne and Luana Viveros of Wahiawa.
- Lily had just left her longtime job at a Waialua coffee shop to chase her dream of becoming a teacher.
- Her mother worked as a registrar at Waialua High and Intermediate; her father was a skilled craftsman.
- Mother and daughter danced hula together for years and were known around Wahiawa simply as "the girls."
- The driver who caused the crash also died, and investigators are still working out what went wrong.
Outlook: A fundraiser for the family has already passed $53,000 while the investigation continues.
