Three Oahu family members killed in New Mexico highway crash
Three members of one Oahu family were killed in a highway crash in New Mexico, leaving two surviving sons and a wide circle of friends and school communities in shock.
- Wayne, Luana, and Lilinoe Viveros died at the scene after a commercial vehicle hit them on Interstate 40 on Sunday during a family trip.
- Wayne and Luana were married more than 26 years; son Kaikoa and older stepbrother Aaron stayed home on Oahu and survive them.
- Lilinoe, a 2022 Mililani High graduate, was about to start a teaching career.
- Luana worked as a registrar at Waialua High and Intermediate, and the loss is hitting that school community hard.
- A GoFundMe for funeral costs has raised over $38,000, with a meal train also set up for the surviving family.
Outlook: Support for the two surviving sons is expected to keep growing as funeral arrangements come together.
