Molokai dogs arriving at Mala Harbor to find forever homes
Six stray dogs from Molokai are being shipped to Maui for adoption, good news for the animals and for families looking to adopt.
- The Maui Humane Society teamed up with the Molokai Humane Society to care for 195 animals and move six stray dogs off the island.
- The dogs arrive by boat at Mala Harbor in Lahaina early Wednesday morning.
- Staff will take them to the Puunene shelter for health checks, shots, spay and neuter surgery, and behavior tests.
- Once cleared, each dog will be put up for foster care or adoption.
Outlook: The six dogs should be ready for new homes within weeks, with more transfers likely if the partnership holds.
