Three members of one Mililani-area family died in a highway crash in New Mexico on Sunday, a loss now rippling through two Oahu school communities.

• Wayne and Luana Viveros and their daughter Lillian were hit by a commercial vehicle on Interstate 40 and died at the scene.
• Wayne and Luana were married more than 26 years; two sons, Keiko and Aaron, stayed home on Oahu and are in shock.
• Lillian, a 2022 Mililani High graduate, was about to start a teaching career.
• Luana worked as a registrar at Waialua High and Intermediate, and the family was known for volunteering with First Robotics of Hawaii and hula.
• The couple had welcomed their second grandchild six weeks ago.

Outlook: A GoFundMe for funeral costs has already raised more than $38,000, and a meal train is set up to support the surviving sons.
