AIA Hawaiʻi and Bishop Museum host final workshop at Aloha Bricks ’26

Oct 06, 2026

Honolulu families get one last free hands-on architecture workshop as the Bishop Museum's giant Lego exhibit winds down — good news for kids and parents looking for a weekend outing.

  • The "Shells, Wings and Wonder" workshop runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the museum's Great Lawn, outside the Aloha Bricks exhibit.
  • Kids build with Legos and pretend to be architects, designing a new shell for a snail or a new cocoon or wings for an insect.
  • The prompts tie into the Bishop Museum's insect and snail collections, pairing nature with building design.
  • It is the third and last workshop in a series that started in April, timed just before the exhibit closes.
  • The American Institute of Architects Honolulu chapter is marking its 100th year with walking tours all month and a scholarship golf tournament on October 23.

Outlook: The exhibit closes right after Saturday's workshop, so this is the final chance to catch both together.
