Honolulu ALS walk raises $90K toward $130K goal
Hawaii's community fundraising and local events calendar is filling up, with a strong turnout for an ALS charity walk in Honolulu.
- More than 500 people joined the 14th annual Hawaii Walk and Roll to Cure ALS at Kapiolani Park, raising $90,000 of a $130,000 goal.
- The money funds ALS programs and services in Hawaii, and donations are still open.
- Aloha Festivals Royal Court member Moi Kane Konana Sales, from Waimanalo, will be honored by the Honolulu City Council on October 7 for his cultural and community work.
- Maui's Imua Family Services is launching "100 Voices," the island's first community-based youth choir for ages 11 to 18, with no auditions needed and rehearsals starting in 2027.
- Kauai hosts its 11th annual Chocolate and Coffee Festival at Kilohana Plantation, with tastings, workshops, and live entertainment supporting local growers.
Outlook: The ALS fundraiser still needs $40,000 to hit its target, and the choir debuts at Imua's 80th anniversary gala in April 2027.
