A fire broke out in a unit on the 30th floor of a South Street high-rise, and crews put it out — no injuries reported so far.

• Firefighters forced their way into the apartment at 801 South Street after a fire started in an oven.
• The call came in around 6:30 in the evening on the building's 30th floor.
• Debris was left scattered across the floor, and hazard cones were set up in the hallway.
• High-rise fires are harder to fight because crews have to haul gear up dozens of floors.

Outlook: Expect a damage assessment and a cause review, with residents on that floor likely displaced while the unit is cleaned up.
