Ko Wen-je Campaigns in Pingtung, Says the TPP Cannot Remain an Internet Party Forever
The Taiwan People's Party is shifting its energy from the internet toward local grassroots politics — a step toward broadening its base, and a clear plus for cooperation between the KMT and the TPP.
- Former TPP chairman Ko Wen-je travelled to Pingtung to appear at rallies for the party's candidates for county councillor and township and city representative.
- He said the party cannot remain an internet party forever, and that it needs elected representatives at the local level to last over the long term.
- Party chairman Huang Kuo-chang said the TPP has taken repeated hits over the past two years, and thanked supporters for not walking away.
- Su Ching-chuan, the KMT's candidate for Pingtung county magistrate, attended in person to endorse three TPP candidates, publicly calling for the blue and white camps to join forces.
Outlook: The TPP will continue to pour resources into local races, and blue-white alliances at the local level are expected to become more pronounced.
