Honolulu firefighters have contained a building fire at a Waipahu strip mall, and nobody was hurt.

• The fire broke out before dawn at the Leeward Drive-In on Pupukahi Street, just off Farrington Highway.
• It was upgraded to a two-alarm fire, which brought double the normal trucks and crews.
• No one was inside the building when firefighters arrived, so there were no injuries.
• Homes sit directly behind the strip mall, which made the fire more worrying while it burned.
• Crews are packing up, the smoke smell is fading, and Pupukahi Street is still closed.

Outlook: Investigators are now on scene to work out what caused the fire.
