Taiwan passive component makers surge on second wave of capacitor price hikes

Oct 01, 2026

Taiwan's passive component stocks jumped hard as a broad round of capacitor price increases kicked in, a clear win for Yageo, Walsin Technology and Holy Stone and the investors holding them.

  • Walsin Technology hit its daily limit up and Yageo pushed back above the NT$600 mark as buyers piled in.
  • A first round of price hikes on tantalum capacitors went through smoothly, and a second wave now covers the full capacitor lineup.
  • Japan's Murata is cutting supply of low-end and older parts, and Japanese and Korean plants are shifting capacity to high-end AI chips, spilling standard-product orders over to Taiwanese makers.
  • Order visibility for Walsin Technology and Holy Stone now stretches to the end of 2027, and analysts set a NT$1,000 target on Holy Stone with a hint of more to come.
  • Holy Stone's August profit jumped sharply from a year earlier, with margins climbing each month as the higher prices feed through.

Outlook: As long as Japanese and Korean rivals keep retreating from low- and mid-range parts, Taiwanese suppliers should keep gaining orders and pricing power into next year.
