Taiwan and Belize sign trade cooperation MOU
Taiwan is pushing deeper business ties with Belize, a small Central American ally — good news for Taiwanese exporters and for Belize's hunt for foreign investment.
- Taiwan's foreign minister Lin Chia-lung took a business delegation to Belize at the end of September.
- Taiwan's international economic association and Belize's chamber of commerce signed a cooperation agreement and held a business matchmaking meeting.
- Dozens of companies joined, spanning green energy, AI, smart manufacturing, space tech, farming and fishing, food processing, medical care, education and tourism.
- Trade between the two has grown sharply since their economic cooperation deal took effect in 2022.
- The trip also included meetings with Belize's governor-general and prime minister, plus site visits to social housing, a hospital under construction, and seaweed damage along the coast.
Outlook: Expect more Taiwanese company tie-ups in Belize as both sides turn the new agreement into actual deals.
