Taiwan is deepening ties with one of its few remaining diplomatic allies, a modest but positive win for Taiwan's electric bus makers and for Belize's tourism industry.

• Taiwan's foreign minister Lin Chia-lung led a business delegation of more than 30 companies to Belize and met the prime minister and governor-general.
• The two sides plan to bring Taiwan's electric buses, battery storage and smart traffic systems into Belize.
• They also agreed to work on carbon credits, diplomat training, and a new Taiwan-Caribbean development academy.
• Taiwanese biotech firms will study Belize's seaweed problem, which is fouling its beaches and hurting tourism.
• Belize restated its support for Taiwan taking part in international bodies, after backing it at this year's UN General Assembly.
