New Foodland to open at Kapālama Kai shopping center
Honolulu's Dillingham Foodland is closing, but shoppers won't lose the store — a new one is opening nearby on the same property.
- The Dillingham Foodland, open since 1969, will shut down once its replacement is ready.
- The new store goes in at the opposite end of Kapālama Kai shopping center, land owned by Kamehameha Schools.
- The old store stays open in the meantime, so there is no gap in service for the neighborhood.
- The move is part of a broader redevelopment of the Kamehameha Schools property.
Outlook: The old store keeps running until the new Foodland opens at the other end of the center.
