Honolulu's Ward Village is adding two more condo towers, which is good news for developers and construction jobs but another sign that new housing in urban Honolulu is aimed at the higher end.

• Ground was broken on two new residential buildings, Ilima and Melia.
• Together they add close to 370 homes plus 20,000 square feet of shops and commercial space.
• The towers go up ahead of a bigger redevelopment of the old Ward Center block.
• Long-time tenants in that block, including Johnny's Dog Spa, are affected by the teardown.

Outlook: Construction will run for the next few years while the rest of the Ward Center block is cleared for redevelopment.
