Taiwan's science parks hit record first-half revenue of NT$3.54 trillion

Sep 29, 2026

Taiwan's chip and hardware clusters just posted their best first half on record, a strong sign that the AI buildout is still feeding real orders.

  • Science park revenue reached NT$3.54 trillion in the first half, up 29% from a year earlier — the fastest growth in a decade and triple the level of ten years ago.
  • Computer and peripheral makers led with revenue up 82%, driven by cloud and AI demand; chip companies grew 29% and precision machinery 38%.
  • Southern Taiwan's park was the biggest contributor, while Hsinchu grew fastest; the winners there are suppliers tied to Nvidia's AI stack, including Macronix, Wistron and MediaTek.
  • Money is pouring in: total investment jumped more than thirteenfold from last year, 39 new companies moved in, and headcount across the parks rose to 345,000.
  • Optics was the weak spot, with flat panel shipments slowing, though fiber-optic and backup-power orders kept it growing.

Outlook: Officials expect a strong full year on the back of Taiwan's lead in advanced chips, with tariffs and regional tensions the main risks to watch.
