Taiwan's chip hub is hiring hard, which is good news for engineers and a sign that AI demand is still pulling the semiconductor industry along.

• A one-day hiring event in Hsinchu on October 1 brings together 34 companies, including TSMC, Micron Taiwan, Wistron, King Yuan Electronics, SPIL and Unimicron.
• Together they are offering 2,871 openings, mostly engineers, technicians and related management roles.
• The jobs span the whole chip chain — wafer making, memory, servers, packaging and testing, substrates and chip inspection.
• Hiring is being driven by rising global demand for advanced chipmaking and AI computing.
• Some firms are not requiring a specific degree or prior experience, and top starting pay for software and smart-manufacturing roles reaches NT$80,000 a month.

Outlook: As long as AI orders keep flowing, Taiwan's chip companies will keep competing aggressively for staff, and pay for skilled engineers should stay strong.
