Taiwanese lawmakers visit Slovakia to back Taiwanese firms in Europe
A cross-party pair of Taiwanese lawmakers toured Delta Electronics' Slovak plant, a mild positive for Taiwanese companies expanding in Europe and for the local town's jobs.
- KMT's Lin Chien-chi and TPP's Liu Shu-pin visited the industrial town of Dubnica nad Váhom, the first such trip by Taiwanese lawmakers.
- Both said their parties agree on backing industry, and want more exchange on vocational training and skills.
- Delta has run the plant since 2003, making power gear for medical devices, EV charging, telecoms, and data centers for Europe and the US.
- Strong AI data center demand is lifting the plant's sales, and expansion is being planned after Delta put another 20 million euros into its Slovak unit in April.
- The group also stopped at Foxconn's Slovak plant; the local mayor floated future work with Delta on solar and battery storage.
Outlook: Delta looks set to buy land and expand in Slovakia, with the mayor invited to Taiwan's smart city expo next year.
