Aloha United Way holds annual Day of Caring across Oahu
Volunteers and nonprofits across Oahu teamed up for Aloha United Way's annual Day of Caring, a positive community-service event for local charities and the people they serve.
- 35 organizations took part in projects at three locations around the island.
- Volunteers painted, landscaped, and removed graffiti at the Hawaii Theatre Center.
- At St. Francis Healthcare, they personalized teddy bears for dementia patients and made lei for caregivers.
- At Lanakila Pacific, volunteers packed meals for kupuna (seniors).
- The day also featured more than 20,000 rubber duckies, part of the group's fundraising activities.
Outlook: The Day of Caring is an annual event, so Aloha United Way and its partner nonprofits are expected to repeat it next year with a similar mix of volunteer projects.
