Power restored to thousands in Hawaii Kai after outage
Power is back on for thousands of Hawaiian Electric customers in East Oahu after an evening outage, a relief for residents but with no explanation yet for what caused it.
- The outage hit just before 8 p.m. and stretched from Aina Haina to Waimanalo, lasting more than an hour.
- At its peak, over 3,400 customers were still in the dark as of 10 p.m.
- Hawaiian Electric says this was not a planned shutoff due to high winds.
- The cause is still unknown, and the utility has not yet responded to requests for more details.
Outlook: Power has been restored across the affected area, and an explanation from Hawaiian Electric is expected soon.
