Two light stories: a German farm has turned its harvest into a pumpkin art show, and a San Diego golden retriever proved a useless guard dog when a stranger broke in.

• A farm in Germany is using over 100,000 pumpkins to build giant figures of Yoda, Harry Potter, Superman, King Kong and Marilyn Monroe.
• The farm is also showing 500 kinds of pumpkins, which will be turned into fertilizer or energy once the show ends.
• In San Diego, a stranger broke into a home, raided the fridge and took a nap while Nash, a 90-pound golden retriever, relaxed and tried to bring him toys.
• When police arrived the man ran but was caught; Nash calmly offered the officers toys too.
• A flood watch is in effect for Hawaii.

Outlook: The pumpkins will be composted or turned into energy after the show wraps up; Nash is unlikely to be promoted to guard duty.
