A food truck market at Wenzai Port in Xianxi, Changhua, was hit by a spring tide that sent seawater pouring into the harbour area — a headache for the vendors, but a rare experience for visitors.

• More than ten food trucks had set up at Wenzai Port at midday, just as a spring tide arrived and seawater surged continuously into the harbour area.
• The water stood about 7 to 8 centimetres deep, leaving the food trucks sitting directly in seawater.
• Some operators carried on doing business standing in the water, while others hurried to move appliances and ingredients to dry ground to keep the ingredients from being ruined.
• Some visitors waded straight through the water to buy food, while others stood on dry ground to order, calling it an unforgettable experience.

Outlook: The harbour area sits on low-lying ground, so flooding could happen again with future spring tides, and events will need to be timed to avoid the tides.
