Hawaii nonprofit HUGS is bringing back its annual charity pickleball tournament, good news for local families caring for seriously ill children.

• The 4th annual Paddle for HUGS runs Nov. 7 at Pier 2 in downtown Honolulu, indoors this year so rain and sun are not a factor.
• Money raised pays for HUGS programs like peer support, family events, and parents' nights, aimed at keeping families together during a child's illness.
• Spots are capped at 125 players and filling up, with a beginner division in the morning and intermediate players in the afternoon.
• Players sign up alone and get paired with a new mixed-doubles partner each round, so beginners are welcome and medals are scored individually.
• A halftime show features a HUGS family sharing their story, live music, and a pickleball exhibition by pro player Kevin Wong.
