Hawaii's MADD chapter is holding its main yearly fundraiser this Saturday, a positive community event aimed at cutting drunk and drugged driving.

• The 5K walk takes place Sept. 12 at Kakaako Waterfront Park, with on-site sign-up followed by a warm-up and the walk itself.
• Local community groups and police will take part to support crash victims and their families.
• The chapter is aiming to raise $125,000 to fund its work for the year.
• MADD Hawaii also runs school programs on impaired driving and offers a guide to help parents talk to kids about substance abuse.
• Anyone can join — individuals, business teams, sponsors, or people who just want to cheer from the sidelines. T-shirts are provided, and costumes are welcome.
