A motorcyclist in Taiwan's Changhua County has been sentenced to six months in prison after speeding away from a police stop and running red lights, a warning to drivers who treat traffic checks as optional.

• The man was riding without a helmet last October when patrol officers tried to pull him over in Dacun Township.
• He sped off instead, ran multiple red lights, shouted abuse at the officers and made a gun gesture at them.
• He shook off an officer's grip so hard that the patrol bike's mirror was smashed, and was caught in Changhua City.
• Security camera footage showed at least ten minutes of dangerous riding through busy daytime intersections, forcing other drivers to brake or swerve.
• The court gave him six months for endangering public traffic safety, noting he denied everything and showed no remorse.

Outlook: The sentence can still be appealed.
