Two Hawaiian History Month events are taking over Honolulu this weekend, a boost for Hawaii's Māhū, drag, and Native Hawaiian arts scenes.

• The Mamo wearable art show runs Friday at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, its 19th year.
• Māhū Madness follows Saturday, marking five years of spotlighting Hawaii's Māhū and drag communities.
• Both shows are run by the PY Foundation and feature Native Hawaiian and Polynesian designers and performers.
• New Zealand drag figure Buckwheat, of Samoan heritage and known as a "drag mother" who mentors newer queens, flew in with five suitcases of costumes and will appear both nights.
